Bridge – Afternoon: 2nd Thursday @ 1:00 pm

We are a very friendly, relaxed group and welcome all bridge players with basic playing skills. Normally, we have two to three tables and play until about 4:00 pm. Chairs are rotated every four hands so you get a chance to play with everyone. Members take turn hosting. Each month, the location is listed in the Welcome Mat. Please call or email the hostess to insure your seat at the table!

Antiques "R' Us: 1st Wednesday @ 10:30 AM

​Come join members for viewing antiques and collectibles. Each month members will meet and bring something to show and discuss its history and how they obtained it. There will be a monthly theme, such as toys, jewelry, art, glass, pottery, etc. Some months we will take field trips to antique malls, and perhaps have a guest appraiser speaker. Learn more about the things our parents and grandparents had in their homes and enjoy remembering items from when we were young.

Bridge – Morning: 4th Wednesday @ 10:00 am

Party bridge is our game! We are casual and friendly! We welcome all players with at least basic playing skills. We meet in the home of our Chair, normally have four or five tables and play until 1:00 pm. Since there is limited space, we start a waiting list of substitutes once the tables are full.

Busy Hands: 2nd Monday 10:30 p.m.

Channel your inner craftiness with Busy Hands, a needlework and crafts group. We knit, crochet, quill, bead, cross-stitch, needlepoint, and any other handiwork you enjoy! Until noon, members work independently on their own projects while chatting, laughing and enjoying the company of others. Location details are posted in the Welcome Mat each month.

Mah Jongg – American: 1st and 3rd Thursday @ 12:30 PM

American Mah Jongg is a traditional tile game, much like Rummy. We use the National Mah Jongg playing card and the object of the play is to use your tiles to form a selected pattern from the playing card. The game involves strategy, skill and a certain degree of luck! It’s a lot of fun and highly addictive. We alternate playing between Wegmans at Short Pump on the 1st Thursday and the Wegmans in Midlothian on the 3rd Thursday. If you already know the game, feel free to join us. Day Trippers - Miscellaneous Dates

Head out for a day of adventure meeting new people and exploring new sights. This group takes day trips to interesting, scenic, educational, and/or historical locations in and around the Richmond area. Occasionally bus trips are arranged for trips one or two hours away. We try to carpool to local sites. Details of each trip are announced in the "Welcome Mat". Carpooling and lunch options are arranged by participants. Partners and guests are welcome to join in. Fees and times vary with each trip. Reservations are made on a first paid first served basis on the website calendar event registration using credit card or check for payment. 

Mah Jongg – Chinese: Every Wednesday @ 1:00 PM (except NV Luncheon)

Interested in an afternoon playing a fun, challenging game? Join us for this ancient tile game. Unlike American Mah Jongg, we are not restricted to a preprinted playing card; we have over 80 hands and the combinations are abundant. Members take turns hosting. This is the group for newcomers so if you are interested, please contact the Chair.

Paddle Yakkers: 3rd Wednesday @ 10:00 AM

THINK BLUE – blue water and blue skies! Our group meets Spring through Fall, usually from 10 to 12 (with a self- pack picnic lunch to follow). When the weather and water are temperate, we paddle! Our purpose is to experience kayaking and nature throughout Central Virginia. Most importantly, we value safety on the smooth water found on lakes and rivers. We use six loaner kayaks available on a first call basis. Some locations offer rentals allowing our group to be larger for that venue. Members are often willing to ride share and fees vary by location.

Shirley's Scrabble Society: 1st Thursday @ 11:00 AM

We are a word-loving social group that meets at the Westwood Club (6200 West Club Lane, Richmond, VA) and welcomes newcomers at all levels of familiarity with Scrabble! Approved word list and the Official Scrabble Dictionary are provided online. Many players opt to stay for lunch in the dinning room. 

Walk in the Park: 1st Monday @ 10:00 AM

Exercise is so much more fun with friends! Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and come with us! We walk and talk for 2 to 3 miles (~ 90 minutes) while we explore parks or other pleasant venues in and around Richmond. After our walk, enjoy an optional lunch at a nearby restaurant.

We're Game: 3rd Friday @ 10:00 AM

Join a group of gamers who enjoy a variety of card and board games. Each month will feature several games to play. Some may be new, but the games chosen are easy to learn. You may find some new favorites. There will be a few oldies played too. Games that already have an interest group will not be included.

From Scratch: 4th Friday/Quarterly @ 12:00 PM

We are a small group of foodies who love to prepare and eat amazing food. We meet quarterly. We may meet in a member’s home or go on a food related field trip. A fee covers the cost of ingredients if the food we make is enjoyed for lunch. Come join us as we learn more about food preparation!

Lunch and a Movie: 4th Tuesday @ 11:30 AM

Like movies? Come see a flick with us! We venture to different restaurants and movie theatres in the Richmond area to share lunch, conversation and enjoy a new movie release.

Avid Readers: 2nd Tuesday @ 11:00 AM

Do you love sharing memorable books – those interesting and exciting gems you have discovered? Our group delights in choosing and discussing a variety of genres (novels, non-fiction, short stories, biographies, humor, mystery and adventure). Books are selected from group members’ suggestions. We meet at a variety of places and often go to lunch afterwards.

Lunch Bunch: 1st Friday @ 11:30 AM

This is a great way to check out new and exciting restaurants in the Richmond area. Lunch Bunch meets at a different location to try out different cuisines of locally owned restaurants. We try to go to different parts of town and sometimes we try a local restaurant a little farther away, like Williamsburg or Charlottesville, which almost always involves a little shopping before and after lunch. This is a wonderful way to get to know new people, find your way around the area and try some new restaurants!

Novel Women: 3rd Wednesday @ 10:00 AM

This book discussion group is composed of women who love to read and discuss fiction, non-fiction and a classic book each year. We normally meet monthly from September to June and discuss a book that has been voted on by the members and announced in the Welcome Mat. Discussion is facilitated by one (or two) of the women who provide a biographical sketch of the author and relevant questions to enhance our appreciation of the book. After a lively discussion, sometimes we extend with lunch. Our monthly meeting place varies and includes area libraries, restaurants and members’ homes.

Tea Timers: Quarterly Events

It's always time for tea and talk with the Tea Timers! Join us for a "cuppa" and conversation with friends each quarter as the group explores different tea venues around the area, including historic inns, cozy farm-to-table B&B's and local tea shops.

Mystery She Said: 3rd Tuesday @ 11:00 am

This group is perfect for all lovers of mystery! We read mysteries - discussing and comparing titles and authors. We attend plays, mystery dinner theater, movies and local book signings. Anything mysterious….we’re up for it!

What’s for Lunch?: 1st Tuesday @ 11:30 AM

With a focus on friendship, fun and, of course, FOOD, this group meets at a different member’s home each month for a potluck lunch. We always have a different theme, delicious food and a wonderful time! Just to mix it up, we might throw in a cookie exchange or a lunch out option. Join us for a relaxing, and filling, outing!
