Welcome Message from the President

Welcome to our Club’s website and, to our area’s new residents, welcome to Richmond. We are a social club and we welcome all women living in the Richmond area to join us. I am honored to serve such a vibrant community—one that celebrates friendship, curiosity, and the joy of shared experiences.

With over 20 active special interest groups—from kayaking and walking, to card games, mahjongg, and delightful foodie outings—our club offers something for every passion and personality. These groups are the heart of our community, providing opportunities to connect, learn, and grow in ways that are both meaningful and fun. Clicking on the Interest Group menu item will display a listing of all our events with days and times they meet. In addition to these activities, our members choose and raise funds for a local charity each year through the efforts of our Philanthropy Committee.

As we begin this new chapter together, I look forward to building on our strong traditions while welcoming fresh ideas and new faces. I encourage each of you to stay involved, try something new, and continue to support one another as only this incredible group of women can.

This year all of our philanthropic efforts will go toward Start1Spark. This fantastic group is a Virginia-based non-profit dedicated to ensuring that children in need have access to athletic and extracurricular opportunities. By funding sports equipment, registration fees, and activity expenses, they help bridge the gap for students who might otherwise be left on the sidelines, fostering confidence, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. Who are the New Virginians?

The New Virginians is a women’s social club of over 300 members in the greater Richmond area. It is a mix of ladies new to the area and ladies that have been in the area for a while! Married or single, we’ve had careers in business, education, interior design, sales, medicine, and government, to name just a few. We’ve created homes and raised families all over the world. As New Virginians, we enrich each others’ lives with our varied interests, talents, and experience.

October 14 Luncheon at The Dominion Club

Program

Our guest speaker, Keary Gottlieb, became a Valentine educator in 2021. A lifelong educator, she has taught in a multitude of settings across all ages. Kelly’s talk is entitled “Richmond Style, Fashion Rewind”, drawing from the Valentine’s robust Costume & Textiles collection. She will explore with us the stories of local designers, retailers and style icons, from Fannie Criss Payne to Sara Sue. Come learn about Richmond’s long history of retail, craftsmanship and creativity.

Philanthropy Overview

The Club has about 20 special interest groups that meet regularly, as well as, a monthly lunch meeting with a speaker or special program. There are a variety of activities that include walking, kayaking, day trips, lunching, gaming, reading, and crafts. Enjoy the slide show of a few of their meetings.

The Club's luncheon meetings are our main social event. Meetings are held at least 9 times a year at a variety of local venues. Luncheons are followed by a stimulating program.

This meeting was held at The Place at Innsbrook in September 2024 to celebrate the club's Golden Anniversary by dancing to tunes provided by Glenn Johnson, a local DJ. That's 50 years of friendship and fun!
